Youth

Sunday School

Children are a vibrant part of our church community. Under the direction of Mike Cuvelier and Susan Crouse, Sunday School runs in conjunction with the school year and is offered during the 10:30 Sunday service. This program has grown over the past several years and is a vibrant part of our church community.

Our curriculum follows the same readings as the Sunday service, so the children are exploring the same scripture downstairs as the adults are studying upstairs. Crafts and activities help the lessons come alive for the children. We are pleased to say that at St. Margaret’s sometimes it’s the kids who are urging the parents to come to church. And of course every year the Christmas pageant is a special time.

Servers’ Guild

Youth play a significant role in our Sunday worship as members of the Servers’ Guild. Wearing the robes and serving brings them close to the action, and can be an especially meaningful way to participate in the service and feel the presence of God. Any children or youth old enough to take this seriously are welcome to receive training and serve.

Youth Group

The youth group meets most Sunday evenings for a meal, a discussion, prayer and meditation, and to play a game or just hang out. About once a month or we do some kind of outing.

Family Service:

When we have our Family Service on the fourth Sunday of each month, kids read readings, lead prayers, help lead music and sometimes help put on a skit. It’s a lot of fun!

Scouting:

From its earliest days, St. Margaret of Scotland has been a proud sponsor of the Scouting movement. Presently we host Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.

  • Beaver Colony
Beavers meet in the Parish Hall on Mondays from 6:30 to 7:30 under the leadership of Annette Kelly. All youth from ages 5 to 7 are welcome.
  • Cub Pack
Cubs meet in the Parish Hall on Tuesday from 6:30 to 7:30 under the leadership of Anne King. All youth from ages 8 to 11 are invited.
  • Scout Troop
Meets on Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00 pm

If you would like to join our Youth programs or have any questions, please contact us.

Holy Eucharist BCP  Sundays, 8:30 am

Quiet Communion Service
This is a service for people who are comfortable with reverent silence. There are usually 12 to 20 people in attendance.  we follow the Book of Common Prayer, which has been in continuous use [in the Anglican Church] for over 400 years. On some  Sundays, we use the Book of Alternative Services (1985).

Holy Eucharist BAS   10:30 am

The 10:30 service is St. Margaret’s largest weekly gathering. This music-filled service normally follows the Book of Alternative Services  Morning Prayer would be followed by refreshments downstairs in the hall. Members of the congregation fill many important roles, singing in the choir, serving at the altar, reading scripture, leading the prayers of the people, bringing forward bread and wine for communion, serving communion and teaching the children in Sunday school.  On the fourth Sunday of the month at 10:30 am we do an all-ages, family-oriented service with a live band and interactive sermon.  When there is a fifth Sunday, we follow the traditional Book of Common Prayer.
